Normanton

  • Busy CTAF frequency, shared with Karumba, Burketown, Kowanyama and Pompuraaw
  • Sealed RWY 14/32, 1676m (abandoned cross strip)
  • Mix of traffic: RPT, Air Ambulance, helicopters, charter ops, RAAF aircraft, private & training flights
  • Avgas available – see ERSA. Phone ahead to ensure supply and check callout fee.

  • Closest fuel to Karumba

Burketown

  • Non-controlled aerodrome, CTAF 126.7
  • Busy CTAF frequency, shared with Normanton, Kowanyama and Pompuraaw
  • Caution: potentially busy periods of commercial and private scenic traffic, fixed wing and heli, from 500ft AMSL  in area
  • Avgas available. See ERSA
  • AWIS Ph 07 4745 5192 or VHF freq 123.05
  • Gliding ops during dry season
  • Birds and wallabies in vicinity

Karumba

  • Coastal non-controlled aerodrome, CTAF 126.7
  • Busy CTAF frequency, shared with Normanton, Burketown, Kowanyama and Pompuraaw
  • No AWIS
  • No avgas available. Nearest avgas Normanton and Burketown.
  • Caution: potentially busy periods of commercial and private scenic traffic, fixed wing and heli, from 500ft AMSL in area 
  • Bird hazard, particularly early morning and late afternoon 
  • Wonderful scenic flying along coastline and river system of the Gulf.
  • Good accommodation option: End of the Road Motel
