We arrive at one of north Queensland’s busiest aviation hubs, Mt Isa. Local RFDS pilot, Mark Stuart-Russell, reminds us of the need for accurate and effective radio calls in, and around, non-controlled aerodromes, such as Mt Isa, which cater for myriad types and speeds of aircraft. We call in to one of CASA’s aviation safety seminars before joining the scenic charter aircraft around Karumba and the beaches of the Gulf. Chief pilot, Catherine Fitzsimons, passes her alcohol and other drugs test.
